Liminal Daze

It’s that time of late year confusion. We stumble around, unsure what day of the week it is, maybe it’s a public holiday, perhaps it’s not. The shops are open, or they’re not. It’s hot. Or elsewhere cold. I don’t know what the time is but there is something I do know.

It’s liminal, this period between one year and the next, yet seemingly belonging to neither. It can feel like all the counting is done, we already know our best ofs and great achievements of 2022. However, it’s not quite true, what happens during this age (epoch, era?) still counts for something. Although, perhaps the works I have coming out this week contribute to the unending sense of liminality. It’s in this vein I can offer you the link to my microfiction First Things, published by the good people of Roi Faineant Literary Press. You can read it, and the other works it accompanies here in the Naughty or Nice edition. In addition, in a couple of days I have a story out. Other than the story, unless I get updates from my pending works, that’s it for 2022. The other two acceptances making up the 44 are scheduled for publication in 2023.

It’s getting close. The end is near.
